Sculpture Program Integrated into Business Committee
The landscaping was done by Dinsdale Landscape Contractors of Sherwood. “The sculpture played a pretty significant part in the design” according to Alfred Dinsdale. “Obviously we wanted to make it part of the landscape. From the street side, it is the focal point.”
The landscaping provides two functions. From the street, it provides and attractive unifying element for the sculpture, the building and the sign. At the same time, it creates an inviting interior garden for Dr. Frey’s patients and their owners.
“A lot of projects we do incorporate sculpture into gardens. It was a natural for us,” he added.
Barbara Simon, APLD, a certified professional landscape designer, had a great influence on the final results, according to Dr. Frey. Simon had specific ideas about how the sculpture should work with the landscaping. “It is a very strong sculpture. We wanted to give it an evergreen backdrop that will set it off nicely year-round.” The evergreens also provide a privacy screen for the interior garden.
